Safety Advice...

Communication advice...

    • Never reveal your personal details unless you are totally comfortable with doing so.

    • Never reveal your surname, address or home telephone number.

    • End all communication if you feel you are being pressured into revealing inappropriate details about yourself.

    • Do not respond to any request for money, no matter how innocent the request may seem.

    • Do not reveal intimate details about family, friends, or work if these details can easily identify you.

    • Ensure all communication you send is honest, and do not give your correspondent false hopes.

    • Do not arrange meetings unless it is something YOU want to do.

    • Before you arrange a date make sure you know who you are talking to, and that they are genuine.

    • Do not use sexy or flirtatious talk as this may give the wrong impression about you.

Do not rush into making a date. Get to know someone online or through text messages and even the occasional
phone call if you wish. You will build up a much clearer impression of who the other person is before you know if arranging a date is the right thing to do or not.

Date advice...

    • Always meet in a public place.

    • Take a mobile phone with you. Keep it fully charged and switched on.

    • Meet during the daytime whenever possible.

    • Always tell a friend or relative where you are going and who with.

    • Avoid drinking too much alcohol.

    • Avoid taking any drug or substance that could impair your judgement.

    • Bring the date to an end at a reasonable time. Do not accept an offer of a lift home if other transport is available.

Continuation...
If you do not wish to pursue a relationship beyond the first date then make sure the other person knows about it. A polite text message should suffice, along the lines of - 'Thank you for the date, however I do not think we are suited for each other. Good luck with your search' – A genuine and decent person will be able to accept this honourably. Do not give the other person any false hope, or make any promises that you do not intend to keep as this can cause upset. If you would like to see the other person again then arrange another date, but remember to stick to the dating rules until you are totally comfortable and have build up a level of trust between you both.
